If you're reading this you probably used mulch or pine straw in the beds around your home and have simply gotten tired of dealing with it. Or you're simply looking for a higher end bug free bedding for your beds and landscape rock has come to mind.
No matter what your reason is you'll find a huge number of options and looks with this versatile and durable bedding material.
With that in mind Landscape Rock isn't for the faint of heart and you should really choose to hire a professional to install it. Rock is normally priced per yard and a single yard weighs 2,700 pounds. Lets take the photo above as an example. In this photo we installed Natural Tennessee River rock around his home, I know in the picture you can only see the front. This project required a total of 5 cubic yards of rock. The total weight of rock installed was 13,500 pounds or 6.75 tons and it was all moved and installed by hand. This project took us 2 days to complete because we didn't want to use heavy equipment on his lawn which would potentially damage it.
Unlike other bedding materials rock wont decompose or wash away in a storm which makes it an extremely durable bedding material and arguably one of the highest end materials you can use on your property in our area. However as stated above it's an incredibly difficult material to work with and depending on the situation rock installation can even be difficult for professionals. Now with that said don't let the difficulty scare you away.
Rock can be one of the best choices to lay around your home. It wont rot, wash away, attracts almost no bugs and in the long run is cheaper than other bedding materials. The initial costs of laying rock are higher than other materials, but unlike other materials you only have to do it once which saves money.
Landscape Rock also provides an incredible number of options, far more than mulch or pine straw in terms of colors textures and it adds a lot to the overall look of your beds.
